Car Battery Replacement
Visit your local Jiffy Lube® for a battery replacement, which includes testing, replacing, and properly disposing of your used battery.
How It Works
Your battery is a critical component of your vehicle’s starting system. It stores electrical energy, which the starter converts to mechanical energy to crank the engine. The alternator produces an electric current to replace what the starter drew from the battery during start-up, supporting electrical loads while the engine runs.
Why You'd Need a Car Battery Replacement
Replacing your car battery is crucial because you can’t start your engine without the electricity it stores, turn on the interior and exterior lights, and operate other electrical components, such as the windows, wipers, or stereo. Additionally, a battery replacement today is not just a matter of changing out a defective battery with one that fits. It’s also important to ensure the correct type is installed. Rest assured, Jiffy Lube® has access to your vehicle manufacturer recommendations.
How Often to Change Car Battery
Generally, you should replace your battery every three to five years. However, always follow Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) recommendations for maintenance schedules and service intervals. Here are some warning signs to keep an eye on:
- Check Engine light or battery light illuminated
- Problems with electrical component operation
- Dim headlights and interior lights
- Slow engine crank
- Clicking sound when you turn the key or press the start button
